Using data, anecdotal evidence and some educated guesswork, a buyer persona exists to ensure that you remain focused on marketing towards the right audience.

Personalise our marketing: the ultimate test of good marketing is whether something resonates with specific individuals. By gaining a much clearer insight into what makes someone tick, it allows us to personalise our messaging towards them, and their interests.
Talk to people with the right tone: Lots of men wear shoes. From trend-conscious teenagers to comfort-seeking fathers. Or how about comfort-seeking teenagers to trend-conscious fathers? You wouldn’t talk to these demographics in the same way. Buyer Personas allow us to dig into this level of detail.
Create content that has impact: Knowing what our Buyer Persona finds valuable allows us to create content that works best for them. For example, one persona might prefer written articles, while another might respond better to Tiktok videos.
Choose the right place to talk to them: If our Buyer Persona is a 75 year old technophobe, there’s probably not much point in creating Instagram Reels for them. Likewise, if our Buyer Persona is an avid Tiktok user, there’s probably not much benefit in sinking your time into creating Facebook posts. Knowing where our Buyer Persona likes to be spoken to is a massive timesaving device.
How Do I Start With A Buyer Persona?
One of the methods to create a buyer persona is to answer a series of questions looking at:
Demographics - characteristics such as age, gender, income, and education.
Psychographics - characteristics based on attitudes, interests, lifestyles, and values.
Behaviours - characteristics based on how people behave and act.
To start thinking about your Buyer Persona, answer the questions below.
Age Range: What is the age range of your ideal customers?
Location: Where do they live? Consider countries, regions, urban vs. rural, etc.
Income Level: What is their approximate income level or financial status?
Education: What is their highest level of education?
Goals and Aspirations: What are their personal or professional goals?
Challenges and Pain Points: What challenges do they face that your product or service can solve?
Values and Fears: What values do they hold dear, and what fears do they have related to your industry or offerings?
Interests and Hobbies: What do they do in their free time? What are their hobbies and interests?
Buying Concerns: What are their main concerns or objections during the buying process?
Decision-making Process: Who is involved in the decision-making process, and how do they decide?
Preferred Channels: Through which channels (online, in-person, social media) do they prefer to interact with brands or make purchases?
Content Preference: What type of content do they consume and through which platforms (blogs, social media, podcasts, etc.)?
